Welcome!

Thank you for visiting gordonmcbride.com, the home on the web for author Gordon McBride.

covers of'Flying to Tombstone,' 'The Ghost of Midsummer Commons,' and 'The Vicar of Bisbee' Gordon's newest novel, The Vicar of Bisbee, is the sequel to Flying to Tombstone, and continues the story of Father Jerry and his friends. Matters of personal faith and the vision of what the Church in the 21st century can become are lingering subtexts of this story.

Gordon's second novel was Ghost of Midsummer Common (2008), set in and around Cambridge, England. It treats issues of midlife spirituality through both scholarly sleuth work and mystical/paranormal experience. The love story cuts to the heart of obsession and self-delusion into the formation of mature relationship.

His first novel, Flying to Tombstone (2003), addresses issues of grief, transformation, ethical life, and mystical spirituality through the characters who live in and around Arizona's famous "Town Too Tough to Die."

While you're here you can read excerpts of the novels, and Gordon's thoughts about writing as meditation.

There is also a guide for using Flying to Tombstone as a religious education tool.
